The Community Idea Stations

In Richmond, The Community Idea Stations have partnered with the FBI to promote the FBI Safe Online Surfing (FBI-SOS) program—an initiative aimed at keeping students safe on the Internet.

This year, The Community Idea Stations—a division of Commonwealth Public Broadcasting—began reaching out to its more than 400,000 viewers and listeners with a campaign promoting the FBI-SOS program. The campaign is expected to expand with the inclusion of radio and television advertising as this partnership continues to grow.

CEO Curtis Monk, an FBI Citizens’ Academy graduate, has become a strong partner of the FBI’s Community Outreach Program, and has allowed the division to host FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association events at the station. Recently, close to 100 Citizens’ Academy alumni gathered to learn about the FBI’s Safe Online Surfing Program.

The Community Idea Stations have worked to develop a strategy to promote the FBI SOS in Central Virginia. Through this collaboration, the FBI has developed strong relationships with local school districts.
