In Pittsburgh , Michael DeStefano works tirelessly to invest in his community. As the chairman of the Federal Executive Board, Hispanic Employment Program Committee, he has worked to improve Hispanic recruitment in federal government. He has directed the committee in organizing multiple job fairs to promote employment opportunities and in presenting Hispanic community human resource panel discussions.
In addition to his work with the Department of Defense’s Defense Electronic Supply Center , he also serves on the executive board of the local American Federation of Government Employees union. In 2010, he graduated from the FBI Citizens’ Academy.
Mr. DeStefano is involved in multiple volunteer endeavors, including the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, where he serves as a handball, basketball, softball, track and field, and soccer coach. He has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, refurbishing abandoned buildings in at-risk areas for families in need.
As a result of the contract work he performed during his government service, he was inspired to volunteer with small businesses in the Pittsburgh area, organizing local presentations on the process of small business growth through collaboration with various government agencies. He remains committed to improving his community, taking pride in service and helping people in emergency situations.
