2011 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

The Las Vegas Division is pleased to recognize Mr. Tim Wong, the president and chief executive officer of Arcata Associates, Inc. Mr. Wong is responsible for the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Las Vegas-based aerospace and defense company. With more than 400 employees in eight states, Arcata supports military tests and training, aeronautical flight testing, and manned and unmanned space flight. He and Arcata have worked closely with the FBI on numerous projects.

A 2006 graduate of the FBI Las Vegas Citizens Academy, Mr. Wong did not hesitate when asked to return in 2009 to assist with organizing the first FBI Las Vegas Citizens Academy Alumni Association (CAAA). He is a charter member of the board of directors and the first vice president. In November 2010, he became the president and implemented new ways for the CAAA to be involved in outreach programs, such as supporting the FBI Safe Online Surfing Internet Challenge and Adopt-A-School program and organizing the 2011 FBI Las Vegas Citizens Academy Graduation.

Mr. Wong has assisted his community and the FBI in many ways. He supported the 2009 FBI Las Vegas Holiday Cheer Project, making it possible to provide gifts for a local family, school, and charity. He is a supporter of the U.S. Vets Initiative, a non-profit organization that assists homeless veterans with rehabilitation, housing, job skills, and employment.

Mr. Wong has been an advocate for small business and has served as a member of NASA’s Minority Business Resource Advisory Council and as the secretary of the Air Force’s Historically Underutilized Business Council. He is a founding member of the Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council.

In addition, Mr. Wong supports a number of non-profit organizations such as the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation, the board of directors of Nevada Public Radio, the Asian Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation, and the Cox Communications Community Advisory Board.
