2011 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

The Portland Division is pleased to honor Musse Olol, chairman and spokesperson for the Somali American Council of Oregon (SACO). Mr. Olol volunteers to assist Somali refugees in Oregon by serving as an interpreter, facilitator, counselor, and co-sponsor. Mr. Olol has been instrumental in organizing and leading efforts within his community to promote awareness of Somali issues and cooperation with the state of Oregon.

A recent graduate of the FBI’s Citizens Academy, Mr. Olol has helped foster increased awareness of the FBI’s responsibilities. Mr. Olol has created a mission and vision for SACO that empowers the Somali community to establish and maintain positive relationships with state and federal law enforcement agencies. In addition, SACO works to educate the greater Portland community and Somali families about the factors that lead to radicalization of youth.
