2011 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

The Richmond Division is pleased to honor Mr. Ian M. Danielsen, coordinator of the Greater Richmond Child Advocacy Center (CAC). Mr. Danielsen is a dedicated child advocate and supporter of the FBI’s investigative efforts to keep children safe.

In response to increasing trends in child abuse and neglect, the national Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) organization opened the Richmond area’s first CAC in 2004. The CAC provides resources such as child forensic interviews, mental health treatments, medical services, and victim advocacy and case tracking. CAC volunteers work to reduce trauma to the abused by minimizing the number of child victim interviews and providing a safe environment for interviews, providing immediate crisis support, increasing communication and collaboration in support of prosecution of offenders, and offering parenting skills classes.

Since 2006, Mr. Danielsen has worked to assist FBI victim specialists and case agents by clearing schedules of the CAC facility in order to provide private meeting space for investigators and victims, assisting in the production of videotaped interviews of child victims, and coordinating additional services as needed.
