ADL Regional Director Receives FBI Award

The Albuquerque FBI's Special Agent in Charge, Carol K.O. Lee, today presented the 2010 Director's Community Leadership Award to Susan Seligman, New Mexico Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League.

Each of the FBI's 56 field offices annually selects an individual or organization to receive the award, which recognizes efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America.

"The FBI Director's Community Leadership Award is a wonderful honor," Ms. Seligman said. "It has been a pleasure working with the Albuquerque FBI on numerous projects over more than 20 years. I have the utmost respect for the men and women who devote their careers to this agency."

SAC Lee presented a certificate to Ms. Seligman at the Albuquerque FBI Field Office. Ms. Seligman will go to Washington, D.C., in March to participate in a ceremony where FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III will present her and other recipients with crystal awards.

Ms. Seligman, a 2007 graduate of the Albuquerque Division's FBI Citizens' Academy, has spent 21 years working on behalf of New Mexicans to ensure freedom from prejudice and discrimination. Throughout her career, she has worked with educators, legislators, law enforcement and the media to combat anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred.

Under her leadership, the ADL was instrumental in enacting anti-terrorist and hate crime bills in New Mexico, removing a former Nazi scientist's name from the International Space Hall of Fame, and furthering relationships with leaders of other community groups.

Ms. Seligman is also a published author and free-lance travel writer.

"We are very proud to present our Director's Community Leadership Award to Susan Seligman," SAC Lee said. "For more than two decades, Susan has been a true friend of the FBI and law enforcement in New Mexico. I can't think of a more deserving person for this important award."
