Toward a Profession of Police Leadership

Modern law enforcement agencies must contend with new threats, technologies and challenges while operating in line with changing public expectations. To keep up with these circumstances, the role of police leadership should evolve. A New Perspectives in Policing paper argues that strengthening leadership skills throughout law enforcement agencies by creating a learning culture, rather than focusing only on the skills of senior leaders, can better support innovative solutions to complex policing problems.
